Passionate about regenerative agriculture? Join Intersnack as our Sustainable Agriculture Manager and lead impactful, hands-on projects with farmers. Creating positive impact snack by snack.

Job description

We are missing a special ingredient. Could it be you?
Are you passionate about agriculture and committed to creating a better food system from the ground up? Do you enjoy being out in the field, working hands-on with farmers and translating big ideas into practical impact? If you've got experience with regenerative agriculture and have an entrepreneurial mindset, this could be your most meaningful career move yet. Join Intersnack Procurement as our Sustainable Agriculture Manager and become a key driver in shaping a more sustainable future for farming.

Your BIG challenge as our Sustainable Agriculture Manager
In this role, you are the bridge between sustainable strategy and real-world implementation. You will lead and support sustainability initiatives across Europe with a strong focus on sustainable potato sourcing, where your prior experience working with Western European farmers will be highly valuable. You collaborate with local agricultural teams and directly with farmers to roll out regenerative practices that benefit both people and the planet—starting from the ground up, all the way to the chips we love. Your work is as strategic as it is practical, you know how to set a vision and make it happen in the field. By bringing your expertise, curiosity and people skills, you'll help farmers thrive while ensuring Intersnack meets its long-term sustainability goals—snack by snack.

Your responsibilities include:

  • Rolling out and operationalising our agricultural sustainability strategy in collaboration with local teams across Europe.

  • Support the Intersnack group by achieving the SBTi targets.

  • Leading hands-on projects focused on potatoes, working with farmers across Europe.

  • Identifying and addressing risks and legal requirements related to sustainable sourcing.

  • Supporting farmers in adopting regenerative agriculture methods and fostering win-win outcomes.

  • Developing internal knowledge and building partnerships with external experts and initiatives.

  • Leveraging cross-crop learnings to accelerate sustainability across all commodities.

Job requirements

We are entrepreneurial industry leaders, what should be your qualities?
Respectful, sustainable, and mutually beneficial collaborations form the foundation of your approach to work. You are a result-driven professional who thrives in managing projects and programs by engaging all stakeholders directly. Not from behind a desk, but out in the fields, working alongside local teams and farmers with a hands-on mentality. With at least 1 year of real, on-the-ground experience in the field, you’re not only comfortable engaging with farmers but also adept at understanding and addressing their needs. Your background includes 5-10 years of experience in sustainable agriculture in Europe, particularly working with root crops like potatoes. You bring solid knowledge of agricultural systems, sustainability reporting, and supply chains, while being a practical problem solver who gets things done. Whether navigating the complexities of agricultural sustainability or driving strategic initiatives, you bring the necessary experience to ensure success in both the field and the broader business context.

Besides the above, we ask:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Sustainability, or a related field.

  • In-depth knowledge of sustainable farming and regenerative agriculture, with field experience, especially with Western European potatoes and potato growers.

  • Ideally living in the eastern Netherlands or western Germany.

  • Valid driver’s license and a willingness to travel for on-site farm visits.

  • Fluent in English, with proficiency in German or Dutch being a plus.

  • Strong experience with intercultural communication and working in diverse teams.

  • Stakeholder management and communication skills, with a consulting-like approach to influence colleagues without direct hierarchical power.

We ask a lot, but offer you even more!
First of all, a huge chance to really make a difference. With over 30 nationalities we can truly say we are multicultural. We offer a great working environment with many driven and entrepreneurial colleagues who are open for collaboration. We are a strong and healthy company and that means that there is always room to support good and sustainable ideas. Our locations and workplaces are modern and facilitate pleasant working conditions. Working from home and flexible working hours are possible in agreement with your team. We believe in giving back and making sure you're happy and thriving. Additional to all the above, this role comes with:

  • A truly impactful role with room to create positive change.

  • Competitive salary based on your experience and skills.

  • Attractive annual bonus scheme with strong performance history.

  • Annual salary review.

  • Company phone for private use.

  • Access to personal and professional development opportunities.

  • Pension scheme, corporate discounts and additional allowances (location-dependent).

Intersnack: an international player with an excellent reputation
The Intersnack Group is Europe’s leading savoury snack manufacturer. In 2024, we generated over €4.5 billion in net sales, employing more than 15,000 people worldwide. Intersnack Procurement manages the procurement of services, raw materials and products for manufacturing activities across the Intersnack Group. We manage an annual spend of around €3 billion. From our locations in Zevenaar (NL), Düsseldorf (DE), and Slough (UK), we manage the entire purchasing portfolio of the Intersnack Group. Intersnack Procurement sources from across the world through a large and diverse system of supply chains. In procuring these products and services, our company touches the lives of many farmers, workers, suppliers, processors and local communities. Given the size and complexity of this network, we recognize not only the potential for social, human rights and environmental risks to occur, but also our responsibility to protect against them. To achieve this, we focus our efforts on responsible sourcing, supplier development and origin and sector development. By engaging on these three levels, we aim to both drive compliance and contribute to impact and continuous improvement.

You've probably enjoyed some of our products; we produce savoury snacks and crunchy popcorn as well as nutritious nuts and creamy peanut butter. We produce, package and sell these products under brand names such as Chio, POM-BÄR Tyrrell’s, Whole Earth and KP, but also under private labels for retailers. We also supply semi-finished products to the food industry.

We are not listed on the stock exchange, which means that we can be very entrepreneurial and can develop a long-term strategy. We are a large European leader in our industry, yet remain entrepreneurial, flexible and personal. That is also part of what makes us Intersnack; the atmosphere is pleasant, everyone knows each other, communication lines are short and you get a lot of responsibility. So it is not surprising that long employments and interesting career paths are a rule, rather than an exception. Our official language is English, in line with our very international character.
